Upgrade Entitlement

Upgrade Entitlement is the right that allows a customer to move from the current Vietnam Office Version to a new Version outside the existing Version Entitlement. Upgrade Entitlement is not automatically created merely because the customer purchased, installed, or activated an earlier Version.

  • Upgrade eligibility conditions — The customer must have a valid License/Entitlement, the applicable Product and Platform, satisfy the Upgrade policy for the new Version, and complete any applicable commercial conditions.
  • Upgrade Entitlement is tied to the new Version — Once an Upgrade right is validly purchased or approved, the system grants or updates the Version Entitlement to permit use of the new Version within the defined scope.
  • Upgrade does not automatically change the Product — If the new Version remains part of the Vietnam Office suite, the Product Entitlement continues to be Vietnam Office. The Upgrade primarily changes the permitted Version scope.
  • Upgrade does not automatically change the Platform — An Upgrade entitlement for Windows remains applicable to Windows; an Upgrade entitlement for macOS remains applicable to macOS. Upgrade does not automatically transfer rights between Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS/iPadOS.
  • Upgrade does not automatically increase Quantity — Entitlement to a new Version does not automatically increase the number of Licenses, devices, or Entitlements. Quantity remains subject to the granted commercial rights.
  • Not all Licenses have identical Upgrade rights — Upgrade scope depends on the SKU, Version Entitlement, contract, commercial program, or product policy applicable at the time of Upgrade.
  • Upgrade Entitlement flow — Verify current License → check Product + Version + Platform → identify target Version → verify Upgrade eligibility → complete commercial conditions → grant new Version Entitlement → install a PUBLISHED Release → Activate/re-verify entitlement.
  • The new Version must satisfy System Requirements — Having Upgrade Entitlement does not guarantee that the current device can run the new Version. Customers must review System Requirements before upgrading.
  • Only PUBLISHED Releases may be used — After receiving Upgrade Entitlement, customers may install the new Version only from a Release officially approved and published by Vietnam Office.
  • Previous Version after Upgrade — Any continued right to use the previous Version is determined by the applicable Version Entitlement and Upgrade policy. It should not be assumed that every Upgrade permits simultaneous use of both the previous and new Versions.
  • The Vietnam Office backend is the authoritative verification source — The backend determines Upgrade Entitlement, Version Entitlement before and after Upgrade, Platform, Quantity, and License status.
Upgrade Entitlement principle: valid License + eligible current Version + correct Product + correct Platform + compliance with Upgrade policy + completion of commercial conditions = entitlement to use the new Version.
