Update Guide
Vietnam Office provides update mechanisms that allow users to receive new releases, bug fixes, performance improvements, security updates, and product changes within their usage rights. The update process differs between Desktop — Windows/macOS and Mobile — Android/iOS/iPadOS.
- Update principle — Vietnam Office distributes only releases that have completed the Release process and are in PUBLISHED status. Users should not install internal builds, unpublished releases, or update packages from unofficial sources.
- Update vs. Upgrade — An Update is an update within the scope of the current version and applicable product rights. An Upgrade moves the product to another version or product generation and may require a new Version Entitlement. Rights to one version do not automatically grant rights to all future versions.
- Desktop — Step 1: Check the current version — On Windows or macOS, users can review the installed Vietnam Office Product, Version, and Release information through the product information area or the update-checking function provided by the application.
- Desktop — Step 2: Check for updates — Use Check for Updates where available. Vietnam Office connects to the update service to identify the current published release and determine whether the device is eligible to receive it.
- Desktop — Update entitlement verification — Before providing an update, the system may verify the Product, Platform, Version, Version Entitlement, License status, and Release to ensure that the device receives only versions within its granted rights.
- Desktop — Step 3: Review update information — When an eligible update is available, users should review the version, Release Notes, and related information before installation, particularly when a release changes system requirements or compatibility.
- Desktop — Step 4: Download the update — Select Download or the applicable update command. The update is downloaded from an official Vietnam Office distribution source. A stable Internet connection should be maintained during the download.
- Desktop — Step 5: Install the update — Once the download is complete, select Install where required and follow the on-screen instructions. Certain updates may require running Vietnam Office applications to be closed before installation can continue.
- Desktop — System permissions — Windows or macOS may require installation authorization, administrative permission, or applicable security confirmation before allowing the application to be updated.
- Desktop — Step 6: Complete the update — After successful installation, reopen Vietnam Office. The system runs the new release and may perform required verification or update-completion steps before the user continues working.
- Desktop — Step 7: Verify the version — Review the Version/Release information again to confirm that the update was installed successfully.
- Automatic updates — Where supported by the version and platform, Vietnam Office may automatically check for updates and notify users when an eligible new release is available. Automatic downloading or installation depends on product configuration, system permissions, and the applicable update policy.
- Manual updates through the Download Center — When required, users can visit the Download Center to check and download the current official Desktop release. Before installation, users should confirm the correct platform, version, System Requirements, and Version Entitlement.
- Windows — Use only Windows updates or installers obtained from official sources. Do not use macOS installation packages or artifacts not published by Vietnam Office.
- macOS — Use only macOS updates or installers appropriate for the supported device architecture. macOS may perform application signature and source verification according to its operating-system security model.
- Android — Check for updates — Open Google Play and visit the official Vietnam Office application listing. If a newer version is available for the device, Google Play displays the Update option.
- Android — Install an update — Select Update. Google Play downloads and installs the new version through the Android distribution mechanism. Once complete, reopen Vietnam Office to continue using the application.
- Android — Automatic updates — Users may use the Google Play Auto-update function where supported by the device and account. Auto-update settings are managed through Google Play.
- iOS/iPadOS — Check for updates — Open the Apple App Store and visit the Vietnam Office listing or application updates area. If a compatible new version is available, the App Store displays the Update option.
- iOS/iPadOS — Install an update — Select Update and complete any authorization required by Apple. The App Store downloads and installs the new version on the iPhone or iPad.
- iOS/iPadOS — Automatic updates — Users may enable automatic application updates in iOS/iPadOS. Automatic downloading and installation are managed through the device's App Store and operating-system settings.
- Mobile — Store Entitlement — Updating the application does not change the entitlement-verification model. Android continues to verify rights through Google Play Store Entitlement, while iOS/iPadOS uses Apple App Store Entitlement together with the Vietnam Office entitlement system.
- Documents during normal updates — The application update process is designed to replace or upgrade required software components without intentionally deleting user documents. Users should nevertheless save and back up important documents before major system changes or significant updates.
- Check System Requirements — A new release may change supported operating-system versions or device requirements. Before updating, particularly for major releases, users should review the new version's System Requirements.
- Review Release Notes — Release Notes provide information about changes, features, fixes, security, compatibility, and relevant considerations for each release. Users should review the Release Notes before significant updates.
- Version Entitlement — Update eligibility is determined by the applicable License Version Entitlement or Store Entitlement. A new release outside the current entitlement scope may require an Upgrade or new usage rights before installation.
- Do not downgrade without support — Returning to an earlier version or performing a downgrade should only be done when Vietnam Office explicitly supports that scenario. Do not install artifacts or older versions that are no longer officially distributed.
- Update unsuccessful — If downloading or installation is interrupted, check the Internet connection, available storage, installation permissions, System Requirements, and Version Entitlement status. Then check for updates again or download the release again from an official source.
- Do not use unofficial update sources — Do not install patches, update packages, installers, or artifacts from websites, software repositories, shared links, or sources not officially published by Vietnam Office.
- Update support — If a device has valid usage rights but cannot check, download, or install an update, users can contact the Vietnam Office Support Center and provide the platform, current version, target version, and error information for assistance.
Standard update workflow: Check the current version → Check for updates → Verify Version Entitlement → Review Release Notes → Download from an official source → Install → Reopen Vietnam Office → Confirm the new Version/Release.
