Troubleshooting

Vietnam Office provides guidance for common issues related to Download, Installation, Activation, Files, Updates, and Restore on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS/iPadOS. When troubleshooting, users should identify the correct Product, Platform, Version, Release, and error message before taking corrective action.

Troubleshooting principle — Check potential causes in the following order: Platform → System Requirements → Internet connection → Installation source → Version/Release → License/Entitlement → System permissions → Error message. Do not use patches, installers, or repair tools from unofficial sources.

A. DOWNLOAD ISSUES

  • Unable to download the Desktop installer — Check the Internet connection, available storage, and access to the Download Center. Confirm that the correct Windows or macOS release is selected and retry downloading the current official release.
  • Download interrupted — Check network stability, ensure sufficient storage is available, and download the file again. Do not continue using a downloaded file if the system identifies it as incomplete or invalid.
  • Unable to find an appropriate version — Check the Platform, System Requirements, and Version Entitlement. Only eligible releases in PUBLISHED status are available for official distribution.
  • Unable to download on Android — Check the Internet connection, device storage, Google Play status, and device compatibility. Vietnam Office for Android must be installed from its official Google Play listing.
  • Unable to download on iPhone/iPad — Check the Internet connection, device storage, Apple App Store status, and device compatibility. Vietnam Office for iOS/iPadOS must be installed from the official Apple App Store.

B. INSTALLATION ISSUES

  • Unable to install on Windows — Check the Windows version, system architecture, available storage, and installation permissions. Confirm that the installer was obtained from the Download Center and meets the release's System Requirements.
  • Unable to install on macOS — Check the macOS version, device architecture, available storage, and operating-system security confirmations. Use only the official macOS installer appropriate for the device.
  • Operating system requests installation permission — Complete the authorization required by Windows or macOS. Do not disable or bypass operating-system security mechanisms merely to install an unidentified package.
  • Installer does not open or is reported as invalid — Confirm that the file came from an official source, download it again if the previous download was interrupted, and verify the correct platform/release. Do not continue using a file that appears corrupted or cannot be verified.
  • Installation completed but applications are not visible — Check the operating system's application list for Văn Bản — Vietnam Office, Bảng Tính — Vietnam Office, and Trình Chiếu — Vietnam Office. If installation did not complete successfully, run the official installer again.

C. ACTIVATION ISSUES

  • Unable to activate Desktop — Check the Internet connection, platform, version, and License/Entitlement status. Windows and macOS use Device-Bound Licensing, so the device must meet the applicable Device Binding and usage-right requirements.
  • No Product Key entry required — The standard activation process does not require manual entry of a Product Key or Hardware ID. If an unofficial source requests such information to “activate” Vietnam Office, do not proceed.
  • No usage rights message — Check the License/Entitlement, Product, Platform, and Version. Installing the software does not create usage rights; activation completes only when a valid Entitlement can be verified.
  • Incorrect platform — A Windows License does not automatically activate macOS, and vice versa. Desktop rights do not automatically create Android or iOS/iPadOS rights. Check the purchased SKU and platform before proceeding.
  • Version outside the entitlement scope — If the installed Version is outside the Version Entitlement, activation may be rejected. Install a Version covered by the current entitlement or complete an eligible Upgrade.
  • Device cannot be verified — If Desktop cannot verify the Device Binding, confirm whether this is the entitled device. A device replacement or significant hardware change may require the Device Transfer process.

D. FILE ISSUES

  • Unable to open a file — Check whether the file format is within the Vietnam Office supported scope, confirm that the file exists and is accessible, and verify that it is not corrupted or incompletely downloaded.
  • File does not automatically open in Vietnam Office — Check the operating system's file association. If required, select the applicable Vietnam Office application as the application used to open the supported file format.
  • File opens but appears different from the original — Check the format and document-element Compatibility. Missing fonts, advanced features, platform differences, or elements not fully supported may affect rendering.
  • Spreadsheet formula produces a different result or is not recognized — Check the function, formula syntax, cell references, source data, and Formula Compatibility scope of the current Version. For important workbooks, verify results before saving or using the data.
  • PPTX effects or media do not behave as expected — Check the current release's support scope for transitions, animations, audio, video, and related elements.
  • Unable to save a file — Check write permissions for the destination folder, available storage, file name, output format, and file status. Try Save As to another location if the current destination does not permit writing.
  • Do not immediately overwrite important files when a Compatibility warning appears — If a document contains elements that are not fully supported, use Save As to create a copy and review the result before replacing the original file.

E. UPDATE ISSUES

  • No update found — Check the current Version, platform, Internet connection, and Version Entitlement. Not every device or Version is eligible for every new release.
  • Unable to download an update — Check the Internet connection, available storage, and access to the update service. Retry or download the official Desktop release from the Download Center where supported.
  • Unable to install an update — Check System Requirements, available storage, system permissions, and ensure Vietnam Office applications are closed if required by the updater. Restart the device and retry where appropriate.
  • New version is incompatible with the device — Do not force installation of a release that does not meet System Requirements. Continue using an eligible supported Version or upgrade the system/device where appropriate.
  • Application has issues after an update — Restart the application or device and review the new release's Release Notes and Known Issues. If the issue continues, record the Version/Release and error message before contacting support.
  • Do not perform an unsupported Downgrade — Do not independently install an older release or an artifact no longer distributed in order to resolve an issue. Downgrade should only be performed where officially supported or instructed by Vietnam Office.

F. REINSTALL & RESTORE ISSUES

  • Reinstalled but usage rights have not been restored — Open Vietnam Office with an Internet connection and re-verify the License/Entitlement. On Desktop, the system also verifies Device Binding; on Mobile, the system verifies Store Entitlement.
  • Desktop Restore unsuccessful — Check the Product, Platform, Version, License/Entitlement, and Device Binding. Reinstalling on a new device is not considered restoration on the previous device and may require Device Transfer.
  • Android Restore unsuccessful — Confirm that the application was installed from the official Google Play listing and that the correct account or Store context associated with the purchase/entitlement is being used. Then repeat Store Entitlement verification.
  • iOS/iPadOS Restore unsuccessful — Confirm that the application was installed from the Apple App Store and that the Store context corresponds to the applicable purchase or entitlement. Use the Restore function again where available.
  • Restore does not create new rights — Restore only recovers existing usage rights. If a License/Entitlement has been revoked, suspended, is outside its applicable scope, or cannot be verified, Restore does not create a replacement right.

G. QUICK CHECK BEFORE CONTACTING SUPPORT

  • 1. Check the platform — Confirm that you are using the correct Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS/iPadOS release and the correct installation package for that platform.
  • 2. Check Version/Release — Identify the installed Version and Release and compare them with the Release Notes and current PUBLISHED release.
  • 3. Check System Requirements — Confirm that the operating system and device configuration meet the release requirements.
  • 4. Check the Internet connection — Ensure a stable connection for Download, Activation, Update, Restore, and online verification processes.
  • 5. Check the installation source — Desktop must use the official Download Center; Android uses Google Play; iOS/iPadOS uses the Apple App Store.
  • 6. Check system permissions and storage — Confirm that sufficient storage is available and that the application has the permissions required to install, update, open, or save files.
  • 7. Check License/Entitlement — For Activation or Restore issues, check the Product, Platform, Version Entitlement, and License/Store Entitlement status.
  • 8. Restart — Close and reopen Vietnam Office. If necessary, restart the device before retrying the failed operation.

H. INFORMATION TO PROVIDE WHEN REQUESTING SUPPORT

If the issue persists, users should provide: the application in use; platform; Version/Release; issue description; steps leading to the issue; error message or code; time of occurrence; relevant file type where applicable; and Order/License reference for transaction or licensing issues.

  • Do not provide secret information — Do not send passwords, OTPs, authentication codes, complete payment information, security keys, or other secret information in a support request.
  • Protect documents before advanced troubleshooting — For important documents, create a backup copy before performing Reinstall, format conversion, Compatibility testing, or other troubleshooting actions that could modify the file.
  • Vietnam Office Support Center — If the steps above do not resolve the issue, contact the Vietnam Office Support Center. Providing the platform, Version/Release, error code, and an accurate description of the action that caused the issue helps support investigate and resolve the problem more efficiently.

Standard troubleshooting workflow: Identify the issue → Check Platform and System Requirements → Check Internet connection and installation source → Check Version/Release → Check License/Entitlement where applicable → Retry the operation → Review Release Notes/Known Issues → Contact the Support Center if the issue persists.
