Platform Entitlement

Platform Entitlement is the electronic right that determines the Platform on which a customer is permitted to install, activate, and use Vietnam Office. Vietnam Office is available on four primary Platforms: Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS/iPadOS. Rights for each Platform are granted and verified independently.

  • Platform Entitlement determines “which Platform may be used” — Product Entitlement identifies the product suite; Version Entitlement identifies the permitted Version; Platform Entitlement identifies the operating system/platform on which those rights are valid.
  • Four official Platform SKUs — Vietnam Office is commercially offered through four SKUs: Vietnam Office Desktop – Windows; Vietnam Office Desktop – macOS; Vietnam Office Mobile – Android; Vietnam Office Mobile – iOS/iPadOS.
  • Rights are granted according to the purchased SKU — When a customer purchases a SKU, Platform Entitlement is established for the corresponding Platform. Purchasing one SKU does not automatically create usage rights for other SKUs or Platforms.
  • No default Multi-Platform entitlement — Usage rights on one Platform do not automatically extend to another Platform. Customers who require Vietnam Office on multiple Platforms must have valid rights for each applicable Platform.
  • Windows and macOS are separate Platform Entitlements — Both are part of Vietnam Office Desktop, but Windows and macOS rights are managed independently. A Windows License does not automatically apply to macOS, and a macOS License does not automatically apply to Windows.
  • Android and iOS/iPadOS are separate Platform Entitlements — Both are part of Vietnam Office Mobile but are distributed and verified through different Store ecosystems. Android rights do not automatically create iOS/iPadOS rights, and vice versa.
  • Desktop and Mobile do not share rights by default — A Desktop License on Windows or macOS does not automatically grant Vietnam Office Mobile rights on Android or iOS/iPadOS. Likewise, Mobile rights do not automatically grant Desktop rights.
  • Platform Entitlement — Windows — Customers purchasing Vietnam Office Desktop – Windows may use the Vietnam Office suite on an eligible Windows device within the granted Product, Version, Quantity, and License scope.
  • Windows licensing mechanism — Windows uses Device-Bound Licensing. After the system verifies a valid Product Entitlement, Version Entitlement, Platform Entitlement, and License, the right is associated with the device through Device Binding.
  • Platform Entitlement — macOS — Customers purchasing Vietnam Office Desktop – macOS may use the Vietnam Office suite on an eligible macOS device within the granted Product, Version, Quantity, and License scope.
  • macOS licensing mechanism — macOS uses Device-Bound Licensing under the Vietnam Office Desktop model. Platform Entitlement must identify macOS before the License can be validly activated on the device.
  • Platform Entitlement — Android — Customers entitled to Vietnam Office Mobile – Android may use Vietnam Office on supported Android devices within the granted entitlement scope.
  • Android entitlement mechanism — Android rights are verified through Google Play Store Entitlement together with the applicable Vietnam Office Product, Version, and Platform Entitlement.
  • Platform Entitlement — iOS/iPadOS — Customers entitled to Vietnam Office Mobile – iOS/iPadOS may use Vietnam Office on supported iPhone or iPad devices within the applicable device and operating-system scope.
  • iOS/iPadOS entitlement mechanism — Rights are verified through Apple App Store Entitlement together with the applicable Vietnam Office Product, Version, and Platform Entitlement.
  • Platform Entitlement does not operate independently — Having rights to a Platform alone does not determine the complete usage right. The system also verifies Product Entitlement, Version Entitlement, License/Entitlement status, Quantity, and applicable licensing conditions.
  • Complete entitlement relationship — A valid usage right must simultaneously match: Product + Version + Platform + License/Entitlement + Quantity + applicable Activation conditions.
  • Platform Entitlement and Installation — Customers should install only the package intended for the applicable Platform. The Windows installer is not intended for macOS; the Android application is distributed through Google Play; the iOS/iPadOS application is distributed through the Apple App Store.
  • Download does not create Platform Entitlement — Downloading or installing a package does not create usage rights on that Platform. Platform Entitlement is established only through an applicable transaction, order, contract, Store Entitlement, or other valid entitlement mechanism.
  • Platform Entitlement and Activation — During Activation, the system verifies the application's Platform against the Platform Entitlement. If the Platform does not match, Activation may be rejected even if the Product and Version are valid.
  • Platform Entitlement and Reinstall — Reinstalling on the same Platform does not create an additional Platform Entitlement. The system only re-verifies and reapplies existing rights when the applicable License/Entitlement conditions remain valid.
  • Platform Entitlement and Restore — Restore only recovers rights previously granted for the applicable Platform. Restore cannot be used to transfer rights from Windows to macOS, Android to iOS/iPadOS, or between Desktop and Mobile.
  • Platform Entitlement and Updates — Updates must match the current Platform and Version Entitlement. Windows users install Windows Releases; macOS users install macOS Releases; Mobile users receive Releases through the applicable Store.
  • Platform Entitlement and Upgrades — A Version Upgrade does not automatically change Platform Entitlement. If the customer is entitled only to Windows, upgrading the Version retains the Windows Platform scope unless additional Platform rights are granted.
  • Platform Entitlement and Device Transfer — On Desktop, Device Transfer is the mechanism for moving rights between eligible devices within the permitted Platform scope. Device Transfer is not a mechanism for converting a Windows License into macOS or vice versa.
  • Changing devices does not change the Platform — Replacing one Windows computer with another may qualify for Device Transfer where permitted. Moving from a Windows computer to a Mac changes the Platform and is not treated as a standard Device Transfer.
  • Platform Entitlement and Offline use — On Desktop, Offline use may be available after valid Activation according to the License and Device Binding. Platform Entitlement remains part of the entitlement verification process.
  • Platform Entitlement and System Requirements — Having Platform Entitlement does not mean every device on that Platform is supported. The device must also satisfy the System Requirements for the installed Version/Release.
  • Platform Entitlement and feature scope — Certain features may differ between Desktop and Mobile or among Platforms due to operating-system, device, and Release characteristics. Platform Entitlement grants usage rights for a Platform but does not guarantee identical feature sets across all Platforms.
  • Platform Entitlement and Compatibility — The ability to open, edit, save, or export a format may vary by Platform and Release. Users should review the applicable Platform Comparison, Supported File Formats, and Compatibility documentation.
  • Enterprise rights by Platform — For organizations and enterprises, License quantities are managed separately according to the purchased Platform. Windows quantities may not be independently converted into macOS, Android, or iOS/iPadOS quantities unless approved under the applicable policy.
  • Project rights by Platform — For projects, Platform is part of the entitlement scope together with Project, Product, Version, and Quantity. Deployment must comply with the approved Platform and quantity.
  • Platform information may not be manipulated to bypass entitlement — Users may not modify, emulate, or interfere with Platform information, License data, Device Binding, Store Entitlement, or verification mechanisms in order to use rights on an unlicensed Platform.
  • One entitlement may not be used across multiple Platforms outside its scope — Availability of the same suite on multiple operating systems does not combine Platform Entitlements into a single universal right. Each Platform requires the applicable valid entitlement.
  • The Vietnam Office backend is the authoritative verification source — The backend determines the granted Platform Entitlement, associated Product and Version, quantity, License status, Device Binding or Store Entitlement, and applicable Activation/Restore conditions.
  • Example — Windows to macOS — A customer purchases Vietnam Office Desktop – Windows and successfully activates it on a Windows computer. If the customer moves to a Mac, the Windows License does not automatically become valid. A valid Vietnam Office Desktop – macOS entitlement is required.
  • Example — Desktop to Mobile — A customer entitled to Vietnam Office Desktop – Windows is not automatically entitled to Vietnam Office Mobile – Android. If commercial rights are required for the Android version, the customer must have the applicable Android Entitlement.
  • Example — Android to iOS/iPadOS — Rights verified through Google Play do not automatically transfer to the Apple App Store. Each Store and Platform uses its applicable entitlement-verification mechanism.
Platform Entitlement principle: purchase a Platform → use Vietnam Office on that Platform → Windows/macOS use Device-Bound Licensing → Android/iOS/iPadOS use Store Entitlement → Reinstall/Restore does not create new Platform rights → Device Transfer does not convert Platforms → use on multiple Platforms requires valid rights for each Platform → all rights must simultaneously match Product + Version + Platform + License/Entitlement.
