Vietnam Office Licensing Overview

Vietnam Office uses an electronic licensing mechanism to determine whether a user, device, or transaction has valid rights to use the product. Usage rights are managed through the relationship between Product, Version, Platform, and License/Entitlement.

  • General principle — Installing the application does not create usage rights. Vietnam Office may be used only when the system verifies a valid License or Entitlement for the applicable Product, Version, and Platform.
  • What is Product? — Product identifies the commercial product being licensed. Vietnam Office is provided as a complete suite containing Văn Bản — Vietnam Office, Bảng Tính — Vietnam Office, and Trình Chiếu — Vietnam Office.
  • What is Version? — Version identifies the product version that the License or Entitlement permits the user to use. Version is used to control feature scope, compatibility, update rights, and upgrade rights under the applicable policy.
  • What is Platform? — Platform identifies the platform for which usage rights are granted, including Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS/iPadOS. Usage rights are managed separately for each platform.
  • What is a License? — A License is a commercial usage-right record managed by the Vietnam Office system that defines the applicable Product, Version, Platform, quantity, and usage-right status.
  • What is an Entitlement? — An Entitlement is a system-verified right to use a specific Product, Version, or Platform. Entitlement is used as the basis for Activation, Restore, Updates, and other rights-verification processes.
  • Product Entitlement — Identifies which Vietnam Office product the user or transaction is entitled to use. For Vietnam Office, Product Entitlement applies to the complete suite rather than separately licensing Văn Bản, Bảng Tính, or Trình Chiếu.
  • Version Entitlement — Identifies the Version or Version range the user is permitted to install, activate, use, update, or restore. Rights to one Version do not automatically grant rights to all future Versions.
  • Platform Entitlement — Identifies the platform for which rights are granted. An Entitlement for Windows does not automatically create rights for macOS, Android, or iOS/iPadOS, and vice versa.
  • Product + Version + Platform relationship — A valid usage right must match the correct Product, applicable Version or Version range, and correct Platform. If any condition does not match, Activation or Restore may be rejected.
  • License and Entitlement are not the installer — The installer or application is only the distributed software. Usage rights are determined by the License/Entitlement. Successfully downloading or installing the software does not mean that usage rights have been granted.
  • Vietnam Office Desktop — On Windows and macOS, the License is verified against the Product, Version, and Platform and then associated with the device through Device-Bound Licensing.
  • Device-Bound Licensing — When initial Desktop Activation succeeds, the system establishes a relationship between the License/Entitlement and the eligible device. This relationship is used to verify usage rights, Offline use, Reinstall, Restore, and Device Transfer scenarios.
  • No Product Key entry in the standard process — Vietnam Office Desktop uses electronic verification. In the standard activation flow, users do not manually enter a Product Key or Hardware ID.
  • Vietnam Office Mobile — On Android and iOS/iPadOS, usage rights are verified through the platform's Store Entitlement together with the Vietnam Office entitlement system.
  • Android — Mobile rights on Android are verified through Google Play Store Entitlement and the applicable Vietnam Office entitlement conditions.
  • iOS/iPadOS — Mobile rights on iPhone and iPad are verified through Apple App Store Entitlement and the Vietnam Office entitlement system.
  • Desktop and Mobile use different entitlement mechanisms — Windows/macOS use Device-Bound Licensing; Android/iOS/iPadOS use Store Entitlement. These mechanisms do not automatically transfer rights between one another.
  • Platform-specific rights — Purchasing a SKU grants rights only for the platform associated with that SKU. Purchasing Vietnam Office Desktop – Windows does not automatically grant Vietnam Office Desktop – macOS, and Desktop rights do not automatically grant Mobile rights.
  • Activation — Activation is the process of verifying a License/Entitlement and establishing a valid usage state on the applicable platform. Activation does not create rights beyond the granted Product, Version, Platform, or quantity.
  • Restore — Restore verifies and recovers an existing usage right. Restore is not a new purchase and does not create additional Licenses or Entitlements beyond those already granted.
  • Reinstall — Reinstalling the software does not automatically change usage rights. After Reinstall, Vietnam Office may re-verify the License/Entitlement and the applicable Device Binding or Store Entitlement.
  • Update — Updates are provided only within the scope of the applicable Version Entitlement and eligible Release. Users may receive updates covered by their granted rights under the product policy.
  • Upgrade — An Upgrade moves to a Version or product generation outside the current entitlement scope and may require a new Version Entitlement.
  • Offline use — After valid Desktop Activation, the system may permit Offline use within the License scope and applicable policy. Certain activities such as initial Activation, Updates, Restore, or periodic verification may require an Internet connection.
  • License/Entitlement status — Usage rights may be managed through statuses such as valid, not activated, suspended, revoked, or other system-defined business states. Only rights in an eligible status may be used for Activation or Restore.
  • Usage-right quantity — A License/Entitlement may define the number of devices or rights granted under the product and commercial model. Activation, Reinstall, or Restore cannot be used to exceed the granted quantity.
  • Enterprise and Project licensing — For enterprise or project deployments, usage rights may be managed by quantity, platform, version, project, or approved deployment conditions. The Vietnam Office backend is the authoritative source for Entitlement and granted quantity.
  • No self-transfer between Product, Version, or Platform — Users may not independently convert a License/Entitlement to another Product, Version, or Platform outside the granted scope unless an official Upgrade, Device Transfer, or other applicable policy permits it.
  • Eligible releases — Only Vietnam Office releases that have been approved and are in PUBLISHED status may be officially distributed, installed, or restored under the applicable usage rights.
  • Authoritative verification source — The Vietnam Office backend is the authoritative source for Product Entitlement, Version Entitlement, Platform Entitlement, Device Binding, License status, Update/Upgrade rights, and granted quantity.
  • Example 1 — Windows Desktop — A valid Vietnam Office License with an eligible Version and Platform = Windows may be activated only on Windows under Device-Bound Licensing conditions. That License does not automatically apply to macOS.
  • Example 2 — Version — If a user has an Entitlement for the current Version, the user may install, use, and update within that entitlement scope. When a new Version outside the Version Entitlement is released, existing rights do not automatically become rights to use the new Version.
  • Example 3 — Mobile — An Android right verified through Google Play does not automatically create rights on iOS/iPadOS. Rights on each Store are verified according to the applicable platform and Entitlement.

Core Vietnam Office licensing relationship: Product identifies the product that may be used → Version identifies the permitted version → Platform identifies the permitted platform → License/Entitlement confirms the commercial right and usage conditions → Activation/Restore verifies and applies those rights on the applicable device or Store.
